Aurora Metro Arts & Media, in association with Arts Richmond and the Eel Pie Club, are documenting and preserving the musical history of Eel Pie Island, which remains a major influence on today’s UK music scene.
The first act was Ken Colyer’s jazz band, but by June 1963 Eel Pie Island was hosting the Rolling Stones – every Wednesday night for three months. Includes rare archive footage, photos and a soundtrack with over 30 minutes of music from the times. Eel Pie Island is a small island on the River Thames in Twickenham, Middlesex and in the 1960s, a dilapidated hotel on the Island was part of a music revolution that was to change popular music for ever.
