I have the regular XLR version and it doesn't come with the stand. I tend to move between my mom and my dad's home frequently and there's no room in my setup at my dad's for the microphone scissor boom arm. You also should look into a pop shield for it, especially once you get it closer to your mouth. Anything will help! Lo and Behold, I found this bundle, which had the AT2020 and the mic stand I was looking at anyways, for about $100. I combine this with the VSTHost configuration shown in the prior video (although notably, without the noise reduction plugin ReaFIR, which I think hinders the audio), and I'm finally satisfied with the sound quality. next thing you want to check is the advanced properties to make sure the sample-frequency is set to 1 channel, 48000 Hz(DVD Quality). Also, do a lot of tests with a lower gain. The AT2020 is a condenser mic, which means it has great frequency response but is also very sensitive.

I have an at2020 xlr model, and the best results I've seen is to have it sideways, slightly rotated up towards your mouth. Get a shock mount for it, especially if you are mounting to your desk. Getting the right mic placement will help a lot because the mic will focus on your voice more (since it is louder) and will focus on background noise less.

Get a pop filter (seriously, they are cheap as hell and help so much).
