No overnight stays, campfires, smoking or open flames allowed. There is no drinking water available beyond this area. The city’s treated water from the wastewater treatment plant is now sent here to rehydrate the wetlands on this land, rather than being sent to the bay like it was in the past. I don't know how long it's been here, but it gives the impression of being fairly new with some future projects still in the works. Carry water at all times and consider insect repellent in the summer. From working alongside practicing scientists on a wetland conservation project to visiting a local research station on the Caribbean coast, learn about how the incredible engineering feat of the Panama Canal impacted the surrounding ecosystems of this Central American oasis. The park has 24 miles of unpaved trails and over one mile of boardwalks through these wetlands. The smaller trails have more sand and bikes without larger tires can slew on the sand. The 2,900-acre park is a safeguard for wetlands, wildlife and pine forest, while also acting as a natural filter that balances treated water before it makes its way to the St. Andrews Bay. Although we didn't see any alligators.

The weather is much more pleasant in the fall, winter and spring. There is no fee required to use the trails here. Several of the trails travel through planted pine forests, but the park management is working on restoring the ecosystem to native species which should provide more shade in the future. 100 Conservation Drive With about 25 miles of unpaved trails in the park, there are many possibilities for doing a shorter or longer hike. Hot, but beautiful. Anyone that loves nature and solitude will love this park, whether it is for a short walk or a long hike. There are restrooms and a water fountain at the building at the parking area but you will need to carry water with you because there is no drinking water available out on the trails. The Conservation Park integrates two fundamental principles which remain a continuing focus for local government and community. Photographers will find many opportunities for beautiful shots and may be lucky enough to spot a bear or bobcat on the trails. The map will tell the distance of each color-coded loop trail so you can pick the distance you wish to do and follow the signs with the corresponding color. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. No motorized vehicles of any kind or horses are allowed on the trails. Florida law treats an E-Bike like a regular bike but the signs do say no motorized vehicles.
