Georgie’s school project on Val Stanton inspires her to take a risk with Adam. Lou returns home after her book tour was a failure. But the cattle rescue and subsequent drive has to maneuver a dangerous course when they come face to face with the rustlers who shot Tim two years ago, and Mallory's attempt to be part of the adventure puts her in harm's way. One of them is Joe, an old friend of Ty's. Amy steps in to help Georgie with the course. They discover Mallory and Badger upstairs, and tell them to go home. Amy helps a Mongolian horse get ready to travel, leaving his mare and foal behind in Canada. Lou and Mitch deal with their attraction towards each other. When Ty visits Mrs. Bell to thank her for paying his school fees, he and Amy are surprised to learn that she's moved out of her home and away from Sugarfoot. Ty thinks it is unlikely that a young girl would abuse her horse, but Mallory cautions that they shouldn't underestimate Taylor.
Ty's future as a vet is in jeopardy when there's a fatality at Scott's clinic. Constable Rodriguez comes to the rescue when it looks like the horses will have to go back to the dealer. Then, while celebrating their first big sale, Ty tells Caleb that he wants to pull out of their business partnership, which results in Caleb forging an unlikely alliance. The episode ends with an emergency helicopter taking Amy to the hospital. But he gets sick Amy lets him drink from the contaminated river. Ty and Amy decide to elope after Val gets Jesse to drop the charges.
Meanwhile, Georgie is keen to tackle an exciting new challenge but her relationship with Adam is tested when he finds her spending time with another guy. Jack proposes to Lisa. Ty and Amy each begin to wonder what they are waiting for to get engaged. Chris Potter deserves an Oscar. Amy is asked to spend time at an art retreat to work with an artist's allegedly traumatized horse. Lou hires Jade to work at the Dude Ranch but regrets her decision when she proves to be a problem employee who takes advantage of the situation. Ty is asked to mentor a troubled kid, but finding common ground proves harder than he expected.

Ashley decides to go to school in British Columbia and Caleb is not sure if to go or to stay. Amy and Ty get back together. When the opportunity comes up to possibly sell the horse, he plots to get the maximum amount of cash.

This sets in motion a series of strange events, which results in some unusual team pairings. Lou and Peter try to pretend they are working out okay, but fight over custody arrangements and end up getting lawyers involved. Shane and Miranda are back in Hudson. Ty gets roped into helping Jack and Tim on a cattle drive but an unforeseen accident jeopardizes their plans. Val comes back and her cancer has returned. When Jack finds out Will Vernon’s wild horses are in danger, the family rallies behind him to bring them home. Tim makes a spur of the moment decision causing tension between him and Jack. Amy lost her vision due to the violent kick from Zeus. Lou accidentally sends home Mrs. Roach's horse despite the fact that her horse's fear has yet to be cured, after misinterpreting Amy's description of the horse as "fine."
Tim begins his custody battle with Miranda over Shane. Lisa has returned to Hudson to facilitate the sale of Fairfield and the horses. When Ty and Amy find Mrs. Bell in a retirement home, they break her out and bring her home. While Tim had a fantastic time traveling the rodeo circuit with Casey, he returns to Heartland and second-guesses their relationship.
Mallory thinks Austin is only hanging out with her because of her dad and breaks up with him with a very creative method. Caleb's rodeo ride is broadcast on TV; he does well but gets hung up in his rigging and winds up unconscious on the ground while a horrified Ashley watches and their friends and family watch from afar.
Meanwhile Amy agrees to help Caleb when his horse acts out, but soon realizes the problem is not the horse. Amy and Ty work together to prepare a wild horse for overseas transport, but the horse’s temperament may be more than they bargained for.
