For those who cannot make a Ranger-guided tour, you can visit the key sites of the Chickamauga Battlefield on your own along a seven-mile loop road consisting of eight stops. But really it’s the view from the observation platform that is the real winner. There are canons on display around ever turn, several rustic buildings to explore, and many large monuments dedicated to different state’s companies and individuals.

In order to limit the duplication of effort, if possible, do your hiking before the Auto Tour, make a note of which stops you covered, then visit the other stops by car.
