I need a 16 port PoE+ Switch and I am confused when comparing the gen1 US-16-150W with the gen2 USW-16-POE. The strange part is that the Gen 2 is also 20$ dollars cheaper. The silent fans are really good, I have the 16 port gen 2 with an 8 port 150w for over spill.

For saving snapshots and video clips, I actually prefer that it just dumps it into my phone’s photos and then it gets backed up there (vs the Synology way, which was clunky and hard to access). Although not walkways the case, I am weary of buying any “older/gen1” equipment for this reason. It seems the Gen 1 is a better purchase for the same price.

I'm glad UBNT made that 802.3af to 24V passive adapter. Some of the hardware in the new non-PRO line just flat-out doesn't seem worth getting for the price. It is alleged that UI wanted to have more of their switches powered by 802.3bt, which is why a bunch of them have power supplies at 60W and POE budget of something less than that. Also according to this possible the Gen 2 non pro will get layer 3 routing. I currently have my controller on a Gen 1 Cloudkey and its the only way I log in. Noise and reliability are my two main queries. I can't imagine how it'd be doing without a fan (!!).
