Sharon Olds is one of contemporary poetry’s leading voices. Winner of several prestigious awards, including the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Critics Circle Award, Olds is known for writing intensely personal, emotionally scathing poetry which graphically depicts family life … She has published twelve books of poems, including Satan Says (1980), The Father (1992), Stag’s Leap (2012), Odes (2016) and, most recently, Arias (2019). Often first-person narratives, her poetic voice is known for both its precision and versatility. She will publish a new poetry collection, “Arias,” in October. Her National Book Critics Circle Award … Oldss poetry is known for its accessible and direct free verse style.
Olds has been the recipient of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, the 1984 National Book Critics Circle Award, and the first San Francisco Poetry Center Award in 1980. She teaches creative writing at New York University.
