The Sempron is a name used for AMD's low-end CPUs, replacing the Duron processor. The Sempron 2600+ was released over a year more recently than the Pentium 4 2.8GHz, and so the Sempron 2600+ is likely to have better levels of support, and will be more optimized for running the latest games. Sempron has been the marketing name used by AMD for several different budget desktop CPUs, using several different technologies and CPU socket formats.
