My ego needed that.
We got our couch for $50 at Habitat for Humanity (it was in good condition when we bought it and a good brand, though I cannot remember which off the top of my head) and put on a nice looking easy to clean microfiber slipcover ($100) since we didn't like the original color.
I want something good and that will last. Ashley Homestore also ranks 376th among Furniture sites. Avoid anything that is described as "Asian Hard Wood" Check the joint work on any piece you are looking to buy. While it may not last as long if you do it than the professional, at least you know if the dogs shred it, you can do it yourself. Which means they might not be the best, Yes bobs discount. Basically anything with "bonded" leather will peel and is garbage.Real leather is $$$ but lasts. Went with microfiber because pet hair and pet claws can be a real problem with leather. IMO, always pay for quality on the things you will use daily. I suspect bobs furniture is the same.
When I was younger and more insecure, I commissioned a piece of solid birch furniture for my coffee table (and end tables). for about a 1/4 of the new price off craigslist. Almost none of our furniture is worth moving. At the same time, we bought our couch and barstools from Macy’s.

Bobs may be slightly worse. When i was younger bobs had free candy and ice cream so I'm gonna say that. Just do a web search on High Point discount furniture. The most common issues with Ashley Homestore are around customer service, which is not as good as expected by some customers. The recliner I have no idea when it will go on me but when it does, I’m ready. Go a step higher - raymour and Flanagan has done well for us. Do yourself a favor and go for a higher end sofa. Checked the usual suspects, rooms to go, big lots, and some of the other furniture stores around, but ending up getting it at costco of all places. I have looked at lovesac and boy are they pricey! Ashley makes a big deal of their love for veterans, but said I 'quit' when gone on deployment. Was about $1k less than all the others (I think it was like $1200 for the full sectional?) His saving grace was his mother, upon seeing the quality of delivered goods (Staples, scratched and missing pieces) told them to take it back. Anybody buy furniture from both in the past? I bought my sectional at big lots, and have been extremely impressed with how it’s held up, comfort, etc. Frugality is the mental approach we each take when considering our resource allocations. Someone non-frugal I know had something re-upholstered and it cost almost a $1000. My SO originally went to a discount store and the set he originally picked out, while it looked nice, was made of MDF and just all out cheap. Cheap presswood, noone cares about quality control, gets sent out no matter how fucked it is, mechanicals i.e. I just paid $40 for a good leather couch off craigslist. It's hard to say unless you can actually feel it. I'm looking at one right now, but there's not a Macy's near me to check it out in person. As new homeowners you will find ways to spend it. If you live in an area with a high socioeconomic area close-by, shop in those neighborhoods. Find communities you're interested in, and become part of an online community!

Its been 2 years and there are no issues with rough usage of the sofa. I don’t know Bob, but the Ashley sofa, chair, and ottoman lasted about 18 months. (But expensive at 2k.) I feel that with furniture, you can buy cheap, but in a few years, you will be buying cheap again.
