Marie Hutton is a Lecturer in law in the School of Law, Sociology and Politics at the University of Sussex. Her research interests lie in family contact in prisons, prisoners’ families and human rights. She has researched prison visitation extensively in prisons across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and has published a number of articles on this topic. Marie is also the co-editor of the forthcoming Handbook on Prison and the Family (Palgrave, 2017). Marie is also interested in arts in prisons and was recently commissioned by Synergy Theatre (in conjunction with The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) to evaluate their work.
