The Bridewell is a superb pub on Campbell street that offers a superb food and drinks range and is housed in a unique building in the city centre.This excellent pub is housed in a Bridewell which is an old Victorian Gaol or Jail which is Grade-II listed and once was frequented by Charles Dickens (A plague is located on the wall to commemorate the event).The Bridewell still retain's the original cell's and cell door's but the interior of each cell now has nice seating and fantastic lighting and many interesting fixtures and features throughout the whole interior.The main bar area has good seating options and there's TV screens for live sport dotted all through the pubs interior.There is a function room upstair's that was in full use when we visited here and there is in my opinion the best courtyard in the city centre located at the entrance of this very unique pub.We visited this excellent pub in the afternoon and it was rammed in here it was that full we had to stand in the brilliant courtyard after ordering our beers.When we visited we had a couple of beer's from a local cask ale brewery'the beer was brilliant as always and well priced.This is a brilliant pub in a unique setting and is very easy to find from Campbell street bus stop its a short walk.
