Elide is very unique from the rest of the characters in the series because, unlike them, she may act cold, but deep inside, she has a real heart of glass. Inversely, Elide gives Lorcan something to fear for, fear being a feeling he hadn't let himself experience for most of his life. I fangirled so hard!! Nothing is random in SJMs writing. As he goes on to kill the ilken, the narration relaxes into a more matter-of-fact tone, as if killing the ilken is of secondary importance to saving Elide. . She sobs and sobs and sobs. She would live. You gave up everything and still came back here. I can see the scene play out in my mind. I love that we get to hear more of her because she deserves as much respect as our other heroes. I am so happy for her. She didnt balk from it, even knowing what it meant for her fate. I think that this is another example of how much Aelin has grown throughout the entire series. Aelins inner dialogue is super emotional, but also talks about the tie ins or as Aelin calls it . Together.. When he wakes up, Elide is there and they make out and kiss. Lorcan and Elide. A few examples of this in Empire of Storms: He brushes away a stray tear from her face; Elide brushes her fingers against his to comfort him and he returns the intimacy. This scene had me STRESSED! These are a few of my favorite mentions . While those scenes were gripping and somber, especially the Thirteen dying, those characters are just side characters. I know that there are thousands of nameless soldiers who also died during the war against Erawan and Maeve. Longer. A small sound came out of her. .
